Book Spotlight Giveaway! The Round House by Louise Erdrich

I have sooooo many books! The Book Spotlight Giveaway feature that I post every Saturday is a way for me to clear my shelves and to share some of the many books I have. This feature is a way for my to cull my collection and to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy these treasures. And sometimes, I find great books on Amazon that I just love to share with you.

****************************

This week I am sharing a copy of The Round House by Louise Erdrich. My book club read it this month and we had a very good discussion about it. It takes place around the area where we live and deals with the Native American population, which is a huge part of the culture of South Dakota. This was a very interesting story and I am happy to share it with one of you.

Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!

The Round House

The Round House by Louise Erdrich
Hardcover, 323 pages
Published October 2nd 2012 by HarperCollins

One Sunday in the spring of 1988, a woman living on a reservation in North Dakota is attacked. The details of the crime are slow to surface as Geraldine Coutts is traumatized and reluctant to relive or reveal what happened, either to the police or to her husband, Bazil, and thirteen-year-old son, Joe. In one day, Joe's life is irrevocably transformed. He tries to heal his mother, but she will not leave her bed and slips into an abyss of solitude. Increasingly alone, Joe finds himself thrust prematurely into an adult world for which he is ill prepared.

While his father, who is a tribal judge, endeavors to wrest justice from a situation that defies his efforts, Joe becomes frustrated with the official investigation and sets out with his trusted friends, Cappy, Zack, and Angus, to get some answers of his own. Their quest takes them first to the Round House, a sacred space and place of worship for the Ojibwe. And this is only the beginning.
