Fractured

Fractured by Catherine McKenzie
Paperback and ebook, 360 pages
Published: October 4th 2016 by Lake Union

Julie Prentice and her family move across the country to the idyllic Mount Adams district of Cincinnati, hoping to evade the stalker who’s been terrorizing them ever since the publication of her bestselling novel, The Murder Game. Since Julie doesn’t know anyone in her new town, when she meets her neighbor John Dunbar, their instant connection brings measured hope for a new beginning. But she never imagines that a simple, benign conversation with him could set her life spinning so far off course.

After a series of misunderstandings, Julie and her family become the target of increasingly unsettling harassment. Has Julie’s stalker found her, or are her neighbors out to get her, too? As tension in the neighborhood rises, new friends turn into enemies, and the results are deadly.

My thoughts about Fractured ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First line—'I'm still not certain what it was that made me begin my daily morning vigil at the front windows.'

Fractured is in my opinion, the best book that Catherine McKenzie has written thus far. Her stories have become more substantial and solid as she has matured as a writer. This one kept me enthralled to the very end.

This story starts out pretty innocently. Julie and her family have moved to Cincinnati to start over, after a stalker has disrupted their lives. This time things will be good, they have left the bad behind. But things don't always go according to plan, do they?

Fractured is an intense story with a twisted story line. Bad things start happening to good, innocent people. But just who are those good, innocent people? Are they as innocent as they first appear to be and are bad things happening to good people, or are there bad people living in the neighborhood? I did not want to put the book down as I needed to get it all figured out.

I have read all of Catherine's books and I am always so excited when she has a new one out. I savor the words she writes and I just adore her stories. I look forward to each and every one of her books.

I received a free copy of Fractured in exchange for an honest review.
